Barbosa-Vásquez Conducts the Worldwide Premier of Bia’s Violin Concerto


The Colombian Musical Genius will be premiering the concerto with the Violinist Alejandra Moreira (Uruguay) and the El Salvador National Youth Symphony Orchestra.


In his 3rd visit to El Salvador Maestro Barbosa-Vásquez has an important challenge, not only perform the magnificent 1st Symphony of Beethoven, but also premier a new violin concerto side by side to the well know Mozart Violin Concerto #3 in G Major. “Premier a new piece is always exciting, is important to work very carefully to really get a great performance level in a something that none have a previous experience. But in addition, when you have 2 masterpieces like this (Beethoven and Mozart) the challenge increases a lot, now not only the orchestra have played the pieces before, but also the audience recognize those[...] at the end all three pieces need to be at the same high performance level…) says the Official Ambassador of Colombia Country Brand.



The final score of the new piece arrived to the Maestro when he was in Italy representing LatinAmerica at the III Nino Rota International Competition (whole news here), “I couldn’t wait to see the music” confess the Maestro. “I’m very happy to come back to conduct there, the people of the El Salvador National Youth Symphony Orchestra is amazing and always ready and attentive to do great music, in addition I love the weather there in November” states the “Talent Pride of Colombia”


Currently based in Bloomington Indiana, and being mentored by Maestros Arthur Faguen and David Neely (of Indiana University), Maestro Barbosa-Vasquez spend his days in scores, the gym and good food. Maestro is enjoying a fascinating international development due to his clear technique and the outstanding vibrant musicality in his gesture. In addition, the international orchestras and opera companies started to recognize him as as a conductor with effective, meticulous and inspiring rehearsals and energetic and successful concerts and opera performances.
