Oct 6th 2026 - Together We Are Stronger
Together We Are Stronger marks Maestro Diego Barbosa-Vásquez’s inaugural concert as Music & Artistic Director of the Syracuse University Symphony Orchestra (@setnor_su / @su_vpa / @syracuseu ) and the beginning of a new artistic chapter of one of Setnor’s Flagship ensemble. Conceived as a musical journey rather than simply a collection of works, the program moves from resilience and reflection toward transformation, belonging, and collective celebration through Beethoven’s Egmont Overture, Sibelius’s Valse Triste, the fourth movement of Dvořák’s Symphony No. 9, From the New World, and Lucho Bermúdez’s Colombia Tierra Querida in a symphonic arrangement by LATAMScores. Each work brings a distinct musical tradition and perspective into the same artistic conversation, asking a central question: What can we become together?
The concert also introduces the developing identity of the SU Symphony as “The Orchestra of Everyone”—an ensemble where high artistic standards and belonging reinforce one another. From Beethoven’s struggle and resilience to the shared joy and participatory spirit of Colombia Tierra Querida, the evening invites musicians and audiences to experience the orchestra as more than a stage: a meeting place connecting students, faculty, Syracuse University, and the broader community through artistic creation. We are not simply beginning a concert season. We are beginning to build an orchestra together—and there is a place for you in what comes next.

One of the greatest privileges of my profession is that every season brings new opportunities to connect people through music.
🌍 As I prepare for an exciting year of international conducting engagements, opera productions, orchestral concerts, scholarly research, educational initiatives, and collaborations across different countries, I wanted to share a few moments from my latest photo session in Bursa, Türkiye.
