Due to the success of its Inaugural Concert under the baton of Maestro Diego Barbosa-Vásquez, its new Principal Conductor, the Orquesta Sinfónica del Conservatorio del Huila will hold two additional concerts to its usual June programming in the city of Neiva.

Following the great success of the Inaugural Concert of the Orquesta Sinfónica del Conservatorio del Huila on May 21, 2015—where even the windows of the surrounding classrooms in the conservatory’s event plaza were filled with attendees seeking a place to hear the symphonic performance—the orchestra has received extraordinary reviews highlighting the exceptional talent and enthusiasm conveyed by the young musicians, emphasizing the support of their teachers, and praising the remarkable work of Maestro Barbosa-Vásquez, Talento Orgullo de Colombia (Colfuturo), in consolidating the technical, interpretive, and organizational development of a symphonic ensemble that enchanted the audience with an unforgettable evening of music spanning various eras and styles.

Due to this resounding success in its public debut, the ensemble led by Maestro Diego Barbosa-Vásquez has received multiple invitations from private and official entities throughout the Huila Department and across Colombia to expand the 2015 Season of the Orquesta Sinfónica del Conservatorio del Huila and present more concerts.

For this reason, in June of this year, Maestro Diego Barbosa-Vásquez, Principal Conductor of the Orchestra, announced a series of concerts on June 17, 18, and 19.

“…In addition to the usual concert at the Departmental Assembly on Wednesday, June 17, as part of the Conservatory’s programming, the orchestra received an invitation from the Governor of Huila to perform a concert honoring the 41st anniversary of the Patrulleros Cívicos on Friday, June 19, and CorpoSanpedro has also invited the Orchestra to perform as Guest of Honor at the National Band Meeting on June 18. It is a great honor for us to receive these invitations, which are a strong indication that we are on the right path…” — Diego Barbosa-Vásquez.

Maestro Barbosa-Vásquez, Director of Opera, Choir, and Orchestra, fellow of the Global Leaders Program of the YOA (Orchestra of the Americas), Talento Orgullo de Colombia (Colfuturo), and holder of a distinguished national and international artistic career with high visibility in the Colombian professional field, affirmed that this is only the beginning of an unprecedented symphonic cultural shift in Huila. He hopes that students, teachers, and various cultural organizations will continue to believe in and support this initiative. He also extended an invitation to cultural organizations as well as private and official entities to continue investing in culture and join efforts to support the extraordinary musical talent that Huila possesses.
