The young conductor “Talento Orgullo de Colombia” will conduct in the Closing Concert of Maestro Germán Gutiérrez’s Conducting Workshop with the Orquesta Filarmónica Juvenil de la Orquesta Filarmónica de Bogotá.

Next Sunday, July 24, 2016, the appointment will be at the Auditorio Fabio Lozano, where the closing concert of the Orquesta Conducting Workshop of the Filarmónica de Bogotá will take place—an event in which the young and talented maestro was selected to lead the ensemble, which is beginning to establish itself as one of the finest youth orchestras in Latin America, bringing together some of the most outstanding musicians of this young generation under the Principal Direction of Maestro Carlos Villa.

Maestro Barbosa-Vásquez is Musical and Artistic Director of the Filarmónica del Huila and Artistic Director of the Programa Coros y Orquestas Escuela E&P. Classified by Colfuturo as “Talento Orgullo de Colombia,” he is a Conductor and Violist, graduated as a fellow of the Global Leaders Program of the YOA (Orquesta de las Américas), and holds a Master of Music degree with honors from Universidad Corpas, with a Major Area in Orchestral Conducting and Minor Areas of Training in Viola and Chamber Music. He has been Guest Conductor of the Orquesta Sinfónica Juvenil de El Salvador, the Orquesta Sinfónica de Caldas, and the Orquesta y Coro Fundadores Esperanza Azteca (Mexico). He was Principal Conductor of the Orquesta Sinfónica del Conservatorio del Huila, of the E&P-Cajicá, Colina, and Aparecida Choirs, and Director of the Conservatorio Virrey Solís-E&P. His professional career as a violist also stands out, having served as Principal Viola of the Orquesta Sinfónica Juan N. Corpas, Orquesta Sinfónica Colombia Joven, Camerata Acordanza, Orquesta Sinfónica de Caldas, Orquesta Sinfónica de la Fundación Arte y Ópera para Todos, and as a Founding Member of the Filarmónica Joven de Colombia.

Expressing his gratitude to Maestro Germán Gutiérrez for all his teachings during the workshop, Maestro Barbosa-Vásquez highlights that “…the orchestra is extremely talented and possesses great energy and a very good disposition to make good music…,” and therefore hopes that many people will be able to join them for the concert.
