Young Colombian Conductor Captivates El Salvador - Concert rebroadcast on El Salvador’s national television.

Due to the success of Maestro Diego Barbosa-Vásquez’s concert with the Orquesta Sinfónica Juvenil de El Salvador, the event will be rebroadcast on El Salvador’s national television.

As a resounding success can be described the two concerts performed on November 27 and 28, 2014, on Salvadoran soil by the young Colombian conductor Diego Barbosa-Vásquez together with the Orquesta Sinfónica Juvenil de El Salvador.

The program chosen for this occasion was titled Grandes Oberturas, a passionate journey through the most renowned overtures of the symphonic repertoire, led by the contagious energy of Maestro Barbosa-Vásquez, who also decided to offer the audience and the orchestra the performances of El Carbonero and Colombia Tierra Querida as encores to the program.

“It was a fascinating experience; I was pleasantly surprised by the great talent possessed by the young members of the orchestra and by their strong enthusiasm to give their very best during all rehearsals and concerts,” said the maestro, only 24 years old, who hopes to soon be able to make music again in this country.

The outstanding performance of the Colombian conductor captivated El Salvador. The orchestra’s administrators and musicians praised his work, even requesting conducting masterclasses for the orchestra’s teachers and conductors and inviting him to return soon to lead them again. “It was very satisfying to hear from the concertmaster that returning next year should be one of my end-of-year goals,” the young conductor recounted with a laugh. The ambassadors of Colombia and Germany in El Salvador and the Secretary of Culture of the country offered the conductor extraordinary praise for his work, expressing their full support for a new visit by the maestro to the Central American country.

“It was very rewarding at my final concert to hear the orchestra cheer ‘Colombia, Colombia, Colombia!!!’” the grateful maestro recalled, thanking both orchestra and audience. The specialized press applauded the event, and descriptions such as “musical genius” were not slow to appear for Maestro Barbosa-Vásquez.

The orchestra’s administration and the Embassy of Colombia in El Salvador decided to form an alliance with the country’s national television network due to the great reception the concert received from the public; therefore, it will be rebroadcast in the coming days. The extensive media coverage carried out during the maestro’s visit to Salvadoran territory was also highlighted.

This event was made possible thanks to the invitation of the Orquesta Sinfónica Juvenil de El Salvador and the Asociación ProArte, the strong support of the Embassy of Colombia in El Salvador and the Colombian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as various private entities, among which stands out AseSuiza, a Salvadoran insurance company with Colombian capital from AseSura.
